Is there a fee to join as a producer?

No, there is no fee to join Phantomusic as a producer. We operate on a revenue share model where we only earn when you earn - we take 20% of each sale while you keep 80%.

What types of beats can I sell on Phantomusic?

Uploading & Managing Beats

How do I upload my beats?

After your producer account is approved, log in and navigate to your dashboard. Click the 'Upload New Beat' button to start the process. You'll need to provide the audio file, cover image (optional), title, description, genre, BPM, key, and other relevant details.

What file formats should I upload?

For the best quality, upload your beats in WAV format (44.1kHz, 16-bit or higher). For preview purposes, we automatically generate an MP3 version with our watermark. If you offer stem licenses, upload each stem as a separate WAV file.

How do I organize my beats into collections?

From your dashboard, you can create collections and add beats to them. Collections help you organize your catalog by genre, mood, or theme, making it easier for buyers to discover related beats. Well-organized collections can increase your sales significantly.

Can I edit or remove my beats after uploading?

Yes, you can edit the details or remove your beats at any time from your dashboard. However, beats that have already been sold will remain available for download to the buyers who purchased them.

Pricing & Licensing

How should I price my beats?

Pricing depends on your experience, the quality of your beats, and your target market. As a guideline, non-exclusive licenses typically range from $20-100, while exclusive rights can command $300-1000+. Research similar producers on our platform to get a better sense of competitive pricing.

What license types can I offer?

Phantomusic supports various license types including Basic (MP3 only), Premium (WAV files), Unlimited (higher usage limits), Exclusive (full rights transfer), and custom licenses. You can create and customize these license types with different usage rights, prices, and included files.

Do I have to offer exclusive rights to my beats?

No, offering exclusive rights is optional. Many successful producers on our platform only sell non-exclusive licenses. However, offering exclusives can attract certain buyers who want unique beats for their projects.

Who owns the copyright to my beats?

You retain the copyright to your beats when selling non-exclusive licenses. For exclusive licenses, you typically transfer the copyright to the buyer, though you should still be credited as the producer. We recommend consulting with a music attorney to understand the full legal implications.
